Beginner's Guide: What to Expect at Your First Class

Booking your first class anywhere new can feel bigger than it needs to be — especially if it's been a while since you've trained, or if you've never really trained at all. Here's exactly what to expect when you walk into Pearl Fitness for your free trial class, so there are no surprises.

Before you arrive

What to wear

Comfortable workout clothes you can move freely in, and shoes you're happy to train in — trainers or cross-trainers work well. Nothing specialised is required for your first session.

What to bring

  • A water bottle
  • A small towel
  • Any information about injuries, conditions, or concerns worth mentioning to your trainer

You don't need any equipment of your own, and you don't need to have trained before.

When you walk in

You'll be met by a trainer — often Pragati herself for first sessions — for a short conversation before anything else. We'll ask about your goals, your current activity level, any injuries or conditions, and what's brought you in. This isn't a form to fill out; it's a five-minute conversation that shapes how your trial class is run.

From there, you'll get a quick walkthrough of the studio — the strength zone, the functional floor, and the changing rooms — so nothing feels unfamiliar once class starts.

During your trial class

Depending on your goals, you'll either join a small group session or spend the time one-on-one with a trainer working through fundamental movements. Either way, the focus is on form first — we'd rather you leave your first session moving well than leave it exhausted.

Nobody expects you to keep up with anyone else in the room. Your trial class is scaled entirely to where you are right now.

After class

We'll talk through how it felt, answer any questions, and walk you through membership options if you'd like to continue — with zero pressure either way. Your first class being free means exactly that: free, no obligation, no hard sell.

"We built the first-class experience to answer one question honestly: is this the right gym for you? Not to convince you it is." — Pragati Auti, Founder & Head Trainer

Still nervous? That's normal.

Almost everyone who walks in for a first class has some version of first-day nerves — it doesn't mean you're not ready. The only thing your first class actually requires from you is showing up.
